852 Spaces Cafe

"Together in Solihull" was a vibrant event organised by Solihull Council, bringing together people of diverse ethnicities, including Brits, Ukrainians, Hong Kongers, and Indians. The occasion served as a platform for cultural exchange, featuring activities such as Cantonese Opera, a fashion show by Ukrainian designers, and musical performances by local students. Adding to the rich tapestry of cultures, 852 Spaces Cafe actively participated in the event.
Our volunteers from 852 Spaces Cafe contributed by preparing walnut cookies and red bean puddings, generously shared with attendees throughout the event. Despite language differences, our volunteers, though with limited English proficiency, conveyed the message that the food was complimentary, encouraging everyone to enjoy it. The Brits at the event listened to the volunteers patiently, displaying their warmth and kindness.
852 Spaces Cafe is not just for Hong Kongers; it is a place where we all connect with the local community. Together, we can build stronger bonds among diverse communities, transcending language barriers and celebrating the richness of shared experiences.
Me Time Cafe@Bristol
Adjusting to a new environment poses numerous challenges. When James's family relocated to Bristol, they faced considerable stress, especially in navigating the distinct employment procedures in the UK, resulting in less success than anticipated. On top of this, James's son, Alex, exhibited emotional tantrums, a natural response for a youngster uprooted from familiar surroundings to a foreign country.
As the stress compounded, James found relief at Me Time Cafe with his family. The café provided a space for Alex to interact with other children, while James and his wife found solace in conversations with a compassionate volunteer eager to lend an empathetic ear. Venting proved to be a crucial outlet during this trying period, and Me Time Cafe offered exactly that.
Reflecting on his experience, James expressed gratitude for the volunteers at Me Time Cafe, acknowledging that he might have succumbed to depression if not for the support found in the café. "I'm grateful for these little angels in Me Time Cafe," he said. "I might have gone into depression if I had not stumbled into Me Time Cafe and chatted with them."
The story underscores the importance of open communication, and Me Time Cafe stands as a supportive platform ready to listen and provide a comforting space for those in need.
